The weather was decent as I launched out of Bushy Park. Got to a spot and waiting about 15 mins after shutting of motors before I started fishing in case I spooked fish as I pasted through. As I was slowly drifting with the tide and dragging a lightweight anchor the Trouts and Reds were tightening my lines. I was line sight fishing because they were not hitting and running but instead picking the lure up and you’ll only see a slight twitch. That worked great until the wind picked up. Dropped trolling motor still drifting and spot lock with long cast and caught a few more and off to the Hill with an empty livewell and battery problems.
Wednesday Morning I should’ve stayed in bed and take care of my battery problem but, I ran out again with windy conditions and spot rain at times. Still had success with Reds and Trouts. Both days the average size was 17" to 18.5" trouts and 15" to 18" Reds. I fished some unusual spots trying to stay out the wind both days. Slow retrieve and staying close to the bottom worked for me especially throwing towards the bank coming to a deeper drop off.
Tagged a few reds both days and brought home one trout that was belly up and couldn’t revive. Had to throw 1/4" round jighead with bronze 4/0 hooks because it was getting a bit spendy with those strike eyes getting hung up on the bottom. 6" pumpkin /watermelon curly tails and 4" D.O.A C.A.L series shad swimbait
