Dat’s a whopper, thanks for turning her loose!

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

Thanks for the jerkbait tip. Stayed inshore today and kept the pointer busy all day!

Thanks y’all. Rad, it hit a freshwater suspending jerk bait with a lip on it. By the end of the day the front hook was missing a tine. The middle hook was gone and the back hook was bent! Will swap out with salt water split rings and hooks.

It almost sounds like you’re using one of the new Lucky Strike jerkbaits. Lucky Strike has had a lot of trouble with all of their hardbaits when it comes to hooks and (particularly) split rings.

Yes that’s right. I changed them out though. Hopefully I didn’t kill the action

There are a lot of fine wire trebles (ex: Gammies, Owner, VMC) that are sharp as all get out yet still strong. Pair those with quality split rings and you’ll be fine. Look at any bass fishing forum, and you’ll find topics on how crappy the hardware is that Lucky Strike is using. Pretty much the consensus is to change the hooks/rings on all of them as soon as you pull them out of the pack.

Apparently they’ve received the ■■■■■■■■, but haven’t made a change yet, which is dumb considering better hooks/splitrings would only add a little to the price. They do make some nice looking baits (the jerkbait is identical to a $24 Megabass, and they make a squarebill crankbait identical to a LuckyCraft RC)

Thanks for the info. I replaced with heavier eagle claw trebs and left the middle hook off as a result. Tested in bathroom sink and it seemed good. Fished it this am and the action is still good. Caught a couple trout on it
