Of course he doesn’t - he’s the captain of the Short Bus</font id=“blue”>!

Short Bus is definitely an aptly named vessel. She came at us directly abeam our port side, then turned slightly and passed just off our bow. We were wondering why the heck anyone would troll that close to us while we were anchored when one of the guys shouted “We’ve got lines out!” The four of us on our boat looked around at each other because we all thought he was kidding, there’s no way someone could be such an idiot. Turns out that we were wrong.

As he passed just off our bow one of the guys again told us at the top of his lungs that they had lines out. We just stared in amazement… Then the profanities cut loose from them and they flipped us off.

Absolutely classic…

I haven’t experienced that first hand in actual combat, but I have trained in a similar scenario where it still makes the hair stand up on your body.

I talked to Captain of the Short Bus, he doesn’t recall such a incident…and since when did you boat become a commerical frieghter? A simple “we are anchored” shout out is all it takes, if that is what really happened. You didn’t clearify his oncoming bearing relative to anchorage. If it was from behind, he wouldn’t of been able to tell you are anchored.

Don’t throw crap and how many of those Amstel Lights did you have? You weren’t wasted and needed a nap from those things? I guess it was the 2 or 3 AJ’s…how many again?

The sun comes up around 5:25 am…good story have another chick beer.

That’s the problem; you should be close enough to anyone offshore to be able to “shout” to them. There’s just no excuse for that.

First of all, I do not partake of adult beverages while offshore. That just isn’t me. I’ve fished with about 30 different people from this site and they can all vouch for that. Too many things can go wrong; if my crew however would like to drink a few beers out there, it doesn’t bother me one bit. There may have been three or four beers total drank on the boat all day long…and that was between three guys.

So, you can tell the captain of the short bus that if he can talk to me directly if he would like. I have no hard feelings towards the guy other than his lack of respect on the ocean for other boats. Maybe he doesn’t know better; I don’t know. The water was flat calm and all four anglers on board were standing on the side of the boat bottom fishing. Anyone with a minute amount of experience would recognize that as being people not under way and would avoid trolling directly at that person. That’s what I would do anyways. I don’t know you or if you even know the guy. If you look around the site, you’ll notice that se

Sounds like I missed quite the day! Great pic of the dolphin with the midget.

D&G…let me get this, You did not see the incident, and You are defending the moron on the short bus. Something tells me tou were on the bote…

having fun in a very hot DC, will post later

23, take care of my boat winch!

“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”

First let me say this…I don’t drink on the ocean myeslf, period. Drinking is what land is for. I am glad you (23sailfish) and I have something in common there, it is a safety issue.

Secondly, I don’t care who it is be my friends in another boat or complete strangers…effectively communicate. Don’t sit there like a bunch of frogs on a log. You have a radio and your lungs, use them.

Thirdly, for those who don’t know…trolling in figure 8’s or erracticly along the ledge is acceptable. The single engine types, that the best as it gets, unless your nuts and run out to 300-400 ft of water.

Fourthly, I guess no one on your boat has been to the GTH. Up there is doesn’t matter if it is one boat out there or five million. Someone is going to get within close range of your boat. Unless your boat is a commerical frieghter…no one has to stay back from you.

Fifthly…what I can tell from your report is that patch of live bottom at the southern portion of the Terrace, wasn’t producing much. Here is a PRO-TIP for you…go back out to the same spot you were on, just do it in Early Feb…troll around and catch a few bonitio. Then on the same live bottom, anchor up. Drop that bonito to the bottom…and you might get luckly and pull up some cobia. They stack up there in the winter.

Sixthly…you guys need an ego check…“he is the captain of the Short Bus” and then asking people in other reports “did you see the Short Bus?” that is purely childish. I do understand for some of you your self-esteem is based off the internet and this website, grow up.

Seventhly…my friend would never endanger anyone else life, period. He is a fisherman…not a joy ride and drinking, ah “we didn’t catch too much today” type. Not catching much…he gets upset.

Eigth…he has fished around the world…might learn something from him if you ever have the nads to actually walk up and say “hi.”
Instead of being just another prick from god knows where, ohio most likely.

this is why i didnt want to go last weekend. i’ve got enough stress at work.

Internet bravado, here I come. D and G, you should change your name to D.B… The “short bus” is aptly named and sounds like you are a charter member of that crew. JMHO.

Jerms…since you copy and pasted my post…read # 2 again. More then likely they didn’t want to tangle their gear into your gear. From the orginal story, it was them who communicated first and you guys did and said nothing. The captain of the Short Bus is not a prick or an idiot…he is a really cool guy and one of my friends.

Mancrush…nah bro…I don’t drink chick beers and play grab a$$ with guys. I drink liquor (on land), catch fish (where ever they may be), and chase women…the stuff that men do.

My o my. Aren’t we all a little testy today

So much water, So little time

Sure seems like it. Ivys account from another post:

I know the feeling. Sunday I fished inshore alone and had no problems putting the boat in, I let people around me know that I was putting in by myself and it would be just a minute to put boat in, tie up, then move truck. I did it as fast a safely possible, no problems. Later that afternoon around 6:30pm as always there is a line of boats waiting. Once again I let everyone waiting that I have to dock boat and tie it up to go get the truck. I even let a few boats ahead because they were just dropping people off. All of a sudden the crackhead comes hauling ass in on a small cat names “short bus”. He is cussing and screaming about everyone taking too long. He runs his boat up to the dock, slams it in reverse, so not to run up on the dock and drops his buddy off. The whole time he is cussing myself and other boaters. He calls one lady a *unt with her young daughter sitting right beside her. Now instead of just me being pissed off he has about 6 guys and a pissed off mom. He was obviously drunk and was lucky not to kill some people. Once the boat was on the trailer and out of the water he was smart not to get off, he kept on with the cussing and finger but wouldn’t step down. They haul ass and make the turn onto coleman as 4 police cars come piling into the lot. Apparently someone called 911 and said someone was about to get his ass kicked. They took all our info, and cut out looking for the guy. Not sure if they ever found him but I’m sure a lot of ya’ll know the boat. Watch out for h

If the above story is true, then yeah, the Captain of the short bus seems like a really cool guy. Giving the finger to other boaters and cussing out moms at the landing is awesome.

Can we get his side of the story please. If he’s not in jail yet?

Don’t worry, DandG will be along shortly with a new top ten list of why this behaviour is acceptable since the Short Bus captain knows how to catch fish.

Actually…wasn’t IVY’s girlfriend that called the police after IVY freaks out when holmes drops the guy off at the ramp. Wait, IVY and his bros threaten SB first and then calls the cops…what did the cops say to IVY? I heard he was pretty smashed too.

I mean from what I heard…IVY was d!cking off dead in the water of Shem Creek and has a complex about other boats being near his boat. Dude…its a boating landing…conduct your business and move on, in or out. He (IVY) was the only boat there.

Really all chicken-scratch on this story. If you are going to talk the talk…then walk the walk…not have your girlfriend call the cops.

Dude…all kinds a weird crap is said at boat ramps…it isn’t the beach. I seen a plenty of men deface women at the ramp, with J.r. standing there. Furthermore…it was Shem Creek…the one you are most likely going to get in a fight at, basically it is the one all the drunks use.

Thats why I use Remely’s or pay the $10 bucks for IOP…

Short Bus is a DOUCHE! I was pulling a 20ft. trailer down i26 a few months ago and here he comes across 2 lanes with his boat in tow and cut me off. Then has the balls to flip ME off. This guy has a big problem with thinking it’s everyone else’s fault but his.

You can’t be real…now you’re just messing with me aren’t you?

“From what you’ve heard?” Really?

If you truly know him, I’d be glad to talk to him and calmly explain my beef with him. I am not the violent type, I would never threaten someone over such silly circumstances. My only problem with the guy in the first place was how close he got and the fact that he and his crew felt the need to cuss and flip us off because we were bottom fishing and apparently in his way. As for the “not saying anything to him” thing, he came up on us and started yelling at us, he could clearly see us and see that we were fishing on the bottom. It would be out of my character to yell obscenities back at him. Therefore, I did not say anything to the guy. There was no reason to do what he did unless he was just trying to pirate some numbers. Honestly, if he had came up on the radio and told us that, I’d have been fine with that. At least then it would have been honest and predictable. I just didn’t appreciate the fact that we were cussed at and flipped off for no good reason at all. The boating and fishing community needs to sti

Nice.

DandG, that is the forth…#4 complaint about “Short Bus” being rude and inconsiderate by complete strangers. None of us know each other. Why would we be saying this stuff if it wasn’t true?

Seriously man, its time to give in and save face and say your buddy was wrong.
