6/30 - Dive report -- Updated w/ pic of dinner!

Larry I really hope that I did not come off wrong on my earlier post. I honestly had to double check for myself. In this sport where things can change with in hours sometimes due to quotas being meet ect. Because I had to look and read to find it I learned about other updates myself. RWL I think that a true Banito is a very fine fish to eat. But IMO the false albacore is to bloody for my liking. We see alot of both fish up here in NC. But like it was said previous in this post it makes one hell of a live bait for wahoo and bill fish. Those steaks look good

Not at all, please feel free to correct me when I’m wrong, I hate being wrong:smiley: I’m sure I read that recently, but can’t find it anywhere now. The rules were changed again in May.You are right, the rules are so convoluted that nobody can understand them.

Dang, those spadefish steaks look great:sunglasses:

When you say the true Bonito, you mean the one that was shown earlier in this post? If I have this right, it’s the Little Tunney that we see most often here in the warmer months and it’s the true Bonito that stays mostly north of here, but do catch here occasionally. I knew about the skipjacks were good, but aren’t they generally out deeper?

Thanks, Redxangler!

Jordan, what did you put on those spades you grilled?? If you don’t mind. I caught some recently & wanna try your recipe. Looks awesome!

Thanks,

I did a four hour marinade in the following:
chilli garlic paste
soy sauce
a little dark soy sauce
hoisen sauce or oyster sauce
sesame oil
olive oil
Sezchuan pepper corn and star anise (remove after cooking)

Shooting fish in the face is my hobby.

Larry,If you read the scdnr regs you will see where it says EXCEPT and OTHER, who else uses this bait as a strip,it is killer in front of a purple & black “tuna buster” for wahoo!!!

Go ahead, kick me while I’m down. It’s OK, I can take it:smiley:

But ya see, I live in Georgia, and those fish are federal fish anyway, they belong to the King:wink:

And yes, they make great strip baits for trolling. One of the first baits I leaned to sew, about 50 years ago.

Yep  The last time I fished with mullet strips was 3 weeks ago in Marathon. What fish liked 50 years ago, they still like today
