YOU don’t get excited about shooting deer with a rifle but that doesn’t mean no one else does. Just like someone might not approve of shooting a buck like the one in the picture, others may not feel the same way about shooting a deer with a rifle. That was my point. Why criticize someone for criticizing a particular hunting methodology and then turn around and criticize a different hunting methodology? I’m afraid that is indeed hypocrisy.

I started bowhunting in MD in the mid 80’s. I started mainly because as a gun hunter, I couldn’t start hunting until the Saturday after Thanksgiving and could only hunt for a week, excluding Sunday (now rifle season is two weeks long in MD) but bow hunters hit the woods in mid September and hunted until the end of January. As it turned out, I fell in love with bow hunting and laid the rifle down for a long time, aside from the end of the season to top off the freezer if need be. I wouldn’t say rifle hunting lost the excitement for me but it did lose the challenge. Then I got into single shot handgun hunting (with my T/C Encore) and then I built an AR in a hunting setup (chambered in 6.8 Rem SPC) and both rekindled my love for hunting with a firearm. Granted, I’ll be in a stand more often with a bow than a firearm but hunting with a rifle is no less exciting for me. To imply rifle hunting is less exciting in general just to justify your stance on a particular style of hunting is weak at best and down right insulting to hunters that do still get the “rush” from hunting with a rifle. Knowing your rifle and having confidence in it and your abilities have nothing to do with whether it’s exciting or not or if you still get an adrenaline rush or not. I “know” every firearm and bow I take the woods and I have total and complete confidence in them and in my own abilities but neither of those variables have anything t

Just simply posting a report.Yea,after shooting over a thousand, you’re bound to get a few big ones and none were tame QDM deer. Not that I’ve got anything against that or sitting in a tree.

Perhaps we should be more understanding about Robbie. Some are born as s first, and that’s what the world see’s from them on. He Can’t help it.

Fred, in your defense of sman’s post, his picture and dog hunting against Bolbie’s post (which no one was surprised about) you chose to throw rifle hunting under the bus when you said, “I can’t understand anyone sitting in a stand with a trophy buck in the crosshairs getting the shakes. It’s too easy.” You insulted one form of hunting (and insulted those that participate in that form of hunting) while criticizing someone for insulting a different form of hunting. If you can’t see that then there’s no amount of drinks you could buy anyone to help the situation. Ignoring it or choosing to not acknowledge it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

No, Bolbie’s comment didn’t belong here. We all know he was simply being the troll we all know him to be. Subsequently, you fed the troll. His views and beliefs and tendencies are quite predictable. You could’ve pointed that out without stooping to his level. You could’ve defended sman’s post and dog hunting without marginalizing gun hunting. You chose differently and that was unfortunate.

I have an idea! If Robbie could post his number, we could text him pics of the deer before the shot! Anybody willing to do this?

Bang, I’ll apologize to you or anyone if I offended about the shakes comment, something I don’t understand. You sure seem to have your feathers ruffled. How do you get the shakes sitting in a stable stand shooting an unsuspecting deer standing still? Rifle hunting is my prefered method of hunting, why would I throw it under the bus? Surely you can agree shooting a standing still deer from a stable platform is a much easier target than free stand shooting one running wide open? I just don’t understand your argument. That’s why I suggested the drink, a face to face conversation would go way different than this anonymous written conversati

If you don’t see it, then you won’t see it. Don’t know how else to say it, Fred. Carry on, sir.

You mean back in the days when it was all about getting a couple of deer and sharing some meat and having an awesome day of comradery! Back when It was just a good old time and no P.C. or someone giving you heck for getting a buck that “only” weighed 140#.

We man drove Fripp and Pritchard Island … way back. I think the biggest buck we ever got might have weighed 130# but dang if some of em didn’t have some mighty racks! No matter the qdm you’ll never get a marsh deer to equal a deer up around Bamberg eating soybeans and High Protein blocks put out by the still hunters. Bangstick, That was not ment as a jab, just pointing out a truth. If you can’t see that, you never will.

I’m truly sorry all your encounters with dog hunters have been scum. I must admit, I’ve had my share of Arse wipes. I’d love to invite you on a well run dog drive on a few thousand acres with some well trained hounds. Nothing like it.

No thanks.

I don’t like dog hunters, nor do I like dog hunting. If it were legal, I’d shoot every last one of them that came on my property. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to do that. As usual, the law protects the criminals more than the land owners.

No problem, to each their own!

Sorry you have had such a bad experience with those using dogs to hunt. I can see many today that are new to hunting with limited acreage or access to hunting having a dog club close to them disliking that style of hunting. Too many seem to think that they can turn out dogs regardless of who’s property lines they cross.

I’d have no problem with a law to have to have a large continuous track of land or be made to put up fences if you run dogs. Things are different today. Our rural countryside is no longer made up with everyone knowing everyone and only a handful of people hunting.

“Jab”…insult…self-serving…whatever makes you feel better, Fred. Also, don’t confuse “truth” with perception.

That’s a typical reply from a narcissistic, loner ,greedy stillhunter, mad at the world because he can’t kill a trophy deer to brag about. You have some serious issues amigo, wanting to shoot people that step foot on your vast plantation. If only deer stopped growing antlers then deer hunting would be a sport again and us peasant commoners wouldn’t have to put up with the egos of the rich landowners. No hunting in the kings forest!haha

Lol. What did I perceive as untruthful? Sorry you get the shakes over a deer and I don’t. Lots of things make me happy:smiley:. I’m a simple man that enjoys the little things in life. Just found out thanks to Trump my VA Benefits have improved. That makes me happy.

Never mind, Fred. You just keep being a simple man. It’s worked for you to this point and you wear it well.

Why thank you! Life is good. You really do seem like you got your feathers ruffled. I’m just me, I try not to be a fake person, but I do know I come off wrong to some people. Like I’ve always said since being a member here, a face to face conversation would most likely go so much different. You’d see I’m a pretty happy go lucky person that will talk the pants of a scarecrow, and then give it my shirt if asked. I don’t know many strangers and it usually takes a lot to aggravate me.

Lol. I was referring to the dogs. …but that’s illegal too.

You sound like a typical dem…I refuse to apologize for working hard, being successful, keeping my nose
