Cut crab on bottom, they wouldn’t leave it alone. Caught a pile and then moved on. All over slot, at least my brain says so. I didn’t measure any of them.

Middle of incoming

That’s some fun fishing right there

Camo Jon boat and soaking bait on the bottom.
Glad to see it.
Long way from the old Dragonfly.
Wonder what Pea would say?

When peepod actually gets out and fishes, then he’s entitled to an opinion. Until then…

I still walk the flats and always will.

Man, that’s the nicest looking blue crab I’ve seen.

Where did you get the crab meat for bait?

Sore arm fishing indeed! Thanks for the report!

The crabs are in the creeks!

Yes, ok. I got that. Which part of the meat do you put on the hook? Sorry to be naive but I am kinda new at this. I can catch the crabs - but unclear what happens after that to get it on the hook

In current, we tend to have better luck when we leave the back leg (paddle) on, when using halved Crabs.

Adds a little action to your bait.

Get fresh alive crabs when you can, pull the claws off and toss the claws. Pull the top shell off and toss. Take an old pair of scissors and cut the body down the middle once. There’s a natural line there you can follow. Cut those halfs into halfs. You end up with 4 baits out of each crab. Carolina rig on the bottom with 1/2 ounce lead in most places works fine. Some people cut the crab down more to get more baits, but the small baitfish can clean those out quick and you’ll end up with just an empty crabshell. Those typically do not get eaten. Plus when you’re using cut crab, you tend to get fewer bites, but bigger fish.

When using bigger baits like this, my approach is to use very light drag. Let that fish run for 3-5 seconds before tightening to ensure a good hookset. Hang on!

And find a good creek mouth on an incoming tide and soak that bait next to the grass line.
