May 25 - Surf is up, Bull Reds are in!

Finally got a chance to sneak away from the grind and wet a line just off the beach and the bull reds were waiting on us like we owed them money.

We had 10 folks on the boat, which was only slightly more spacious than a Waffle House booth during a hurricane. Personal space was a distant memory, but no one complained (out loud) because the bite was ON. We pulled in around 20 bull reds, and it felt like they were throwing a party out there and we were on the VIP list.

These fish weren’t picky either. We served up a buffet of cut mullet and live menhaden, and they hit both like it was the last meal before Lent. If you’ve got bait that stinks, bleeds, or flops, you’re probably in good shape.

Rigs of choice? Slider sinker right - the reds appreciated the presentation, or at least they hated it enough to try and kill it.

Moral of the story: if you’re wondering whether the reds are in the surf, yes, yes they are. And if you’re wondering whether 10 people can fish comfortably on a boat made for 6, the answer is… kinda, but bring extra beer and a good sense of humor.

Tight lines and sore arms, y’all.
