There are a stack of bigguns out there grazing… I figured it was going to be a good day after I ran into Optiker at the landing but almost lost hope when we spent almost 2 hours Friday morning trying to get menhaden, we were one of a half dozen boats or so chasing the schools around trying to get a net full… even saw our old time poster Capt Fritz on menhaden trail as well. After enduring the bait battle, we headed to the rocks where my buddy got into em last week. Outside of the south jets… nice and sloppy… wasnt there long before the rod goes screaming drag then I wrangle in a pretty good one on chunk head. A few minutes later my buddy had one one but the drag locked up mid fight and the last lunge from another 30incher or so popped the line. Sitting around turning green isnt for me so after another half hour of no action we head back in to the creeks where we proceed to catch another 8 good ones on cut menhaden from 20 to 33 inches. Got home by noon went to knock out a side job! One of my more productive days of late haha
