Very cool stuff.
This was my Grandfather’s. It’s a Montague Dreadnought from around 1940. Two guides in the middle and a round one on the end. When the pole started to warp in one direction you’d string your line through the opposite guide and fish that way for a while to straighten the pole back up! Very ingenious!
“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
George Orwell
Dragonslayer, I have the same rod by Montague, with an Ocean City “German Silver” reel. I got it from my father in law. When my brother in law saw the Montague he said “I remember cleaning out our grandfathers beach house garage, there were several of those bamboo rods but we only kept that one.” My f-I-l told me the rods would take a set after trolling for blues all day. I think the rods were made with Calcutta bamboo.
Glad you told us that it’s an antique, I guess I should quit using mine.
Not sure if this is a antique or not but it sure is pretty cool…a little T&A on the WIGL Lure! Ever came across these before?

Very nice 23!
My brother has a bunch of stuff from my uncle who fished Lake Poygan in Wisconsin…
Lotsa Pflueger stuff…
Heddon had a lot of stuff back then also…
Brings back a lot of good memories…
Thanx…
Uncle George had a frog harness with springs which held a frog in place from the top, and the rear of it, behind the legs had a double hook upturned…it weighed a ton…
I’ll give you $5 for your treasure trove…
greydog,
The photo you posted has a lure in the lower left hand corner which very closely resembles a lure my uncle had which was supposed to mimic a mouse, of all things…
Thank you for posting the pic…
Wonderful memories of great fishing as a youngster…
