I’ve rocked plenty of 10-20lb grouper and AJ’s up to 55lbs with the Release SG. I did have them update the anti-reverse on it though.

What kind of drag pressure are you seeing out of yours?
When you say update, do you mean replace with a better one or did you have problems they took care of under warranty?
I only have 60lb braid on mine on a 200g spinal jigging rod and use it for jigging. It feels like a Talica 10 to me- that’s been on a diet and is made of better stuff, of course. Have not ever tried it for heavy bottom fishing.
bottom fishing = level wind penn 320 gti with 65 or 80 lb braid - same drag as a red penn 113, smaller, lightweight, used by charter boats everywhere, when used with your thumb and the right rod, will beat any bottom fish in SC that’s legal to keep.- I’ve been using them for years and never had a failure and crush the fish with them.
levelwind is very nice bottom fishing.
A 40 lb aj broke the pins holding the reel together on my penn 320 gti I will never buy another.

I haven’t measured the drag on a scale, but I’d guess the reel is pushing 20ish lbs pretty easily. Much more than that and I’d rather be on a star drag reel.
1 of them had an issue that was taken care of under warranty (I bought it NOS, it was a gen1). No problems since then with either reel.
They hold quite a bit of line and are incredibly light. I’ve got them mounted on Shimano Trevala XH’s.
