Best Aluminum Boat

I’ll second the Hydroturf for help with cooling.

It’s pretty tough as well.

line-x or rhino liner.keeps cool, easy clean-up,doesn’t scratch your expensive reels.

The small/custom aluminum shops on the gulf coast are the best

I beat the hell out of my boat and the hydroturf has held up great. I haven’t torn it at all.

Did you use the adhesive or the 3M peel and stick? Looks good.

I sprayed 3M adhesive spray for all of the edges/corners.

The Hydroturf has the 3M peel and stick on it already.

When applying it you have to be very careful, once it barely touches, it’s there!

Thanks

I’ll make a pitch for Willy boats out of Oregon. It’s a long ways to drive, but they seem to be THE boat to have on the West Coast. You’ve also got North River, Alumaweld, Wooldridge, Duckworth, Thunderjet, and more.

Where do you get Hydroturf?

Finally got around to posting a few pictures of the jon boat restore(work in progress…). Still needing to paint the inside and install the floors with more Hydro Turf. That stuff is the real deal!

At the risk of getting flamed for reviving an old post I wanted to ask all you Jon boaters about consoles. I’ve been looking at a few in the 18 ft range and can’t decide between a side or center console. I can see where each would have certain advantages. I’m hoping some of you can offer some advice based on your “real world” experiences with either one.

i used to have a 1990 17 ft lowe and i loved it. however, when i began to use it in salt water the hull started to get holes in it from electrolysis, i think. I suspect that the new alum boats are alloyed to withstand the salt water better, or am i wrong? i see alot of alum boat around and wonder if people have the same problem i had. I loved the boat and hated to see it go. But, i only paid 1500 bucks for it three years ago and it had a brand new 65lb tm and a rebuilt johnson 70 on it. I fished in all over fl, ga and sc in it and sold for the price of just the motors. SO, it was well worth it to me and the guy i sold it to. Anyway, may want to consider bottom paint. Especially if its an older boat that is not factory painted.

to answer your question- i like the g3 boats alot
