I have a 14’ panga and my boss man has a 24’ panga. They have a narrower beam than many flats boats but will ride much better in choppy water. The hulls are designed to be efficient and cheap to build and run for fishermen in small fishing communities. Very popular in Latin America. I am looking hard at an 18’ with a tiller for myself as a lobster boat here in the VI

Check out Spyder flats boats. Pretty slick design. My buddy has one and it’s a decent ride(sometimes a little wet) but seems like a decent boat.

I love my Carolina Skiff JV17 CC with a 50hp Yamaha saltwater series. It was very affordable…under $10k.
Runs around 30 mph…drafts really shallow.

If you don’t mind waiting a little bit call around to some builders. I know you can get a well equipped Ankona, Cayo, Beavertail, and even a couple models of East Cape, brand new and custom built for you. If you plan on poling a lot, you’ll appreciate having one of those over an off the lot type of boat.

gonna need a little more than that for mine. But seriously you can get a really good poling skiff for that money.I wouldn’t settle for an off the shelf boat that wouldn’t get you as shallow or pole as well.

I’ve got an East Cape that I’m really happy with but right now you can get a new Cayo 17 for less than mine used and be under your price cap. It’s absolutely the best deal in the skiff market right now. You could buy new now and likely sell it for almost the same price years down the road.

The Salt Marsh boats look sweet. I’d really like a Heron. I think the waiting list is close to a year and a half now.

I have a 2014 spyder fx17. I paid well below 28k a couple of years ago. I it;s a good boat. I couldnt ask for more. It performs well in shallow water, it’s easy to pole, has all the amenities as others like it. The only issue is it’s little wet at times, but all flats boats are. I bought mine pretty decked out for less than 25k, one year old and less than 50 hrs on the motor.
