We were told that you must be in line to weigh fish no later than 6pm. They clarified that as long as you were at the scales and in line by 6pm you were good to go, but you must report to the scales by 6pm. The winning fish should be disqualified if they didn’t show up at the scales until after 6:01pm
Not trying pick sides, but the form states both 7pm and 6pm as closing times.
The form is poorly worded…I agree. But this question was posed at the captains meeting and answered by the officials. They said that competitors must report to the scales by 6pm. But the scales would be open until 7pm to accommodate the crowds in case things backed up. 6pm was the given time to report by.
Well there ya go, that is what I was hoping hear, that it was clarified at capt meeting. Ya that form is pretty terribly done for what they are trying pass as a big event. Maybe take more than 5 mins to make it
Scales closed at 6 . There was no “back up” at all, just a couple of boats that came late.

That’s what I heard at the meeting. I also heard the committee boat told them they had till 7. I passed Robert and his guys at around 550 as we were leaving. They where right behind the HUK boat.

This was my first tournament. I come from a motorsports background. We have riders meetings before races. All riders have to be there and the stuff serious. I was expecting the same with a capts meeting. Instead it was a joke. First I was told it starts at 6 but if your there by 630 you will be fine. Got there at 605 and they were rushing thru it. The read the rules said tournament ch is 72 any other questions?
Someone brought up 7pm. Guy said rules say 6pm that’s it. Then the dude from the store down there said IDK lets make it 7. Then we were told no 6pm. I couldn’t get an answer about the committee boat to save my life. Couldn’t even reach them on the radio all day. Fish the whole day not having a clue if the tournament even took place because they wouldn’t know due to the weather till 0600.
My take was it needs a lot of work and was a complete crap shoot. If they want it to be a “just wing it” make stuff up as we go thing fine. I’ll save my money. Other wise it needs to be what it is and the rules need to be set and not changed here and there and what not. Capt’s meeting needs to be mandatory and if a member from your boats not there then your boat don’t fish.

CHARLIE FOXTROT!!!
I’d be curious to hear how this is handled and resolved.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Why is it the guy with no fish in the $$$'s has so many posts and opinions on this subject?
From what I’ve read from your posts, you didn’t know when you headed out to take a right turn instead of a left turn? And once you got back, you’re bragging about how calm it was where you were (not catching much) and not realizing the fleet (that WAS catching fish) was 20+ miles away & the wx was different down there…really?
Take a second and maybe think about why the committee boat wasn’t reachable by VHF, bo!

Your statement is incorrect. Apparently the scales didn’t close at6 because the marina weighed there fish & awarded them first place

You’re a little confused I think Wseale…
He’s saying that the winning fish, that was weighed in after 6PM, was not in a line of people waiting to weight, he simply showed up after 6.

Personally, I think both boats should be tied for first and paid 1st place money based on original payout…ie the same amount if there wasn’t a cluster going on…ie tournament folks need to produce another 1st place prize off the hip…
Take it as a lesson on “the devil is in the details” and maintaining credibility if they expect to continue this tournament in the future with any measure of success…
None of this mess is any of the boats involved fault…its all on the tournament for a poorly worded document and poorly communicated expectations/rules…

I am just going by the rules. the rules rule. the first page is the brochure and signature page. the second page clearly states Rules and rules are your by-laws which states the boat must check in by 6pm. all the tournaments I have been involve with set 6pm as the check in stop time.
