Bottom fish as table fare

Fishguy,
No I’m not kidding. I think rudder fish are disgusting. I ate, well took one bite of one fresh from the cooler. Plucked from the sea and consumed the same day. Truly a nasty little critter. Very strong fishy flavor.

Scamps are pretty darn good… Triggers aint bad either. It would be a toss up for me between those 2

I do love a fresh whole beeliner on the grill though, rubbed with some jerk seasoning, oh man!

  1. Whiting
  2. Hogfish
  3. Grouper
  4. Trigger
  5. Snapper
  6. BSB

One thing is for sure…there ain’t much down there that don’t taste good.

Next time you come in, come heavy, or not at all…

  1. Little tunny (not bled)
  2. Oyster Toadfish
  3. Moral Eel
  4. Ballyhoo
  5. Amberjack worms (low carb substitution for spaghetti)
  6. Tournament Master Ground Menhaden Chum. You can eat it right off the block like a popsicle, or batter and make golf ball sized fritters.
  7. Wash it all down with some menhaded milk

HAD LIONFISH IN FT PIERCE LAST NIGHT WAS PRETTY DANG GOOD

No one mentioned sheepshead yet. They rank close to maybe 4th on my list. We got several big ones earlier this week on some live bottom in 80ft. I would have thought they would be inshore by now.

The best I ever put in my mouth was triple tail. I know there not exactly a bottom fish - If you see one while trolling a weedline , its worth the stop.
