Have never seen a video, but know an individual that was there. I also know a friend of a friend, of a kid that was cleaning a boat that saw the whole thing. He said it was over some Cheese Doodles. Childishness.

But you took my “assinine” statement and ran away with it due to its true nature. Because you and I both know that many released fish do not survive the photo op. It is a perfectly legal thing to do and very profitable for some. I just don’t like that people pretend it is a thing of conservation. Because it is not. There is nothing conservative in stressing a fish to the point that is no longer able to get out of the way of it’s natural predators or the stress of a photo op.
So you consider my statement “asinine” ? Why is that? You are a self proclaimed conservative so you must know that ALL catch and release methods are to REDUCE mortality. Why reduce it when you could stop it? Wouldn’t a True Conservative want to stop rather than reduce? Did you know that there have been numerous studies some including radio transmitters where fish had a 50% higher chance of dieing after a photo op rather than being released in the water? Of course you know that! You should also know that many fish die a day or so later after the photo op so you never get to see them “float”.
Just so you know, I’ll not quit fishing and I’m sure I’ll catch some over the slot Reds as we did over the 4th. But know this, if they are deep hooked the line will be cut as close to the hook as possible and they will not be brought on the boat. That’s me, and you are you. I’ve got plenty of other photos to be taken that do not harm the Breeders just the tasty juveniles.

Oh yea! Those 16" are good, but I prefere 20-23". I take pictures too Fritz. I kind of like to think that I’m a true conservationist, but I know I’m not. But I do make it a point to target fish that I will be able to Eat.
