Thanks! First time catching tarpon…it didn’t matter how scared I was, I was going to land that fish!
Hey Simperfish. Hit the offshore reefs and chum like crazy, you’ll pull up the yellowtails and even a few triggerfish. You don’t have to go out far, 5 miles or so. We go out in our 18’ boat on good days.

Great post, Alex!
I fished that bridge a few years ago in my old Gheenoe and had the same experience with the Tarpon. Completely amazing!!! First time I trolled under the bridge in the dark with my headlamp on and I saw all those eyes staring up me was insane. I couldn’t believe the number of fish. They wouldn’t take crabs, but a big fat live shrimp under a cork or floated back on a drift and it was fish on. (This year I took my ECC Lostmen down but we stayed in Tavernier instead of lower keys. Decided I preferred the lower keys.)
Booked my rental house in marathon for 2 weeks this year. july 4th is going to be awesome they put on a great fireworks show right off the beach. cant wait to fish the hump !!!

I dove the bridge right there plenty for lobster. DNR told us we were nuts when they checked us but they were wrong. We were just stupid.

anhinga, it really is incredible!! The eyes are crazy, it will get your blood pumping quick! I found the same thing, no love for the crabs I put out. I personally love the lower keys!
Let me know how you do NikkiB, that will be great time! The humps are awesome.
JordonOnaYak I can say your not wrong, we saw a ton all over the place. Its a shame they didn’t believe you, oh well more lobsters for the “stupid people”
Great report, awesome pictures, and a gutsy performance. Well done!!!
