I can’t remember if anyone has asked, but why the Zuke? Buyers choice I would assume but it seems like there are better options? Educate me please!

You are right, buyers choice. Let me ask you though, why not. People always talk about outboard preference but when you get real technical with people about the ins and outs of one brand verse the other they usually dont have a clue what the differences are other than the logo and other peoples opinions. Im not saying you dont no good or bad about one brand or another but I would be interested on your thoughts thinking the Suzuki is a less than desirable engine, especially in the 4 stroke class. Thanks for the interest.
As far as MSRP, it isn’t exactly a retail product and doesn’t work like that. Give me a call and I will give you much more detail. Thanks!
My Suzuki DF140 has been nothing but a pleasure to own. It’s simply been the best engine for simplicity, ease of maintenance, stability, quiet, smooth and best of all, reliable. I’ve NEVER had a problem cranking it in any weather. Only issue I’ve ever had is when I put a little too much oil in it. If I were to buy a boat tomorrow, I’d try to find a way to move this engine to that boat.
Congratulations jki. That is fine work.
Very impressive work and attention to detail! Would you happen to have a picture of the hardware holding the console to the deck?
Also, did either you or your buddy happen to do any boat building at a shop off of Dorchester Rd. in North Charleston? I rented out part of a building in this little complex, and one of the other guys there was into boat building/resto. I think he would be a little older than you guys by now though – I can’t remember his name, but he split rent with a guy named Doug that did a lot of boat restorations. I just remember seeing the jig in the shop, and Doug said that it was the other guy’s build.
I’m a big fan of Suzuki’s lower gear ratio/larger diameter prop approach. More grip on the water is great for the hole shot and allows you to trim the boat more with the engine.
I say perfect! Suzuki will run around your other motors all day! Great choice. SWEET looking boat fo sho.

I am exactly that person that has no clue other than the sticker and other people’s opinion. Honesty for me it just doesn’t look good on the boat. Beautiful boath though!

Not to change the topic but your correct about prop dia …the 16" dia ones on the 175’s made a major, major difference during docking and hole shot when I repowered

Another question I forgot to ask in my reply above – how did you choose to attach the deck to the support structure? Did you sandwich wetted mat or use some kind of permanent adhesive/sealant, such as 5200?
Thanks,
Bryson
Just want to let everyone know we will have the 17’ at Red’s tomorrow night if anyone wants to take a first hand look.
Thanks!
Can you be more specific on the time slot? I’ll run over from Folly.
Definitly would like to take a peek as well! You know me tho, I’ll be the one with my head inside a hatch looking at the pretty fillets that no one else sees!

Not there at 4:30. Red’s dock packed 2-3 deep. Will swing by again in a bit.
We actually won’t be there until around 8:00. We have had the boat out all day taking pics and getting cleaned up now.
Going to be around tomorow with it as well?

I had the pleasure of going out with the boat builders of this incredible vessel today. I’m proud to stay I helped put the first bit of fish slime on the boat. Went and found some shallow water redfish today and tested out poling around and just how shallow she would draft. She did not disappoint.
I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by not only the fit and finish and just flawless installation to the tiniest detail, but also of the performance characteristics and handling. For those of you that turn your nose up to Suzuki, there’s no help for you. This ain’t your dad’s outboard. This boat gets up and screams on the water. And skinny too. It has a little more weight to it than you average skinny water boat, but that adds to the unbelievably soft ride for a 17’ flats style ride. We went though the harbor today around 4 (you know that 4’o clock chop), and the carolina style flair that makes this boat the head turner that it is, blocks any spray and adds to the enjoyment of this beautiful specimen of a boat. Going through the harbor felt like I was in a 20 footer rather than a skinny water boat.
I give it two thumbs up. While this boat won’t be for everyone, it will turn everyones’ heads and drop their jaws. This boat will be one of those statement boats, the ferrari of the flats. As impressive as the photos here are, its that much more in person. I appreciate the ride and I had a fantastic time today. We’ll do it again next time you boys are in Charleston.
Stay safe tonight and enjoy Reds.
So Ricky, you got your order in?
Sorry I missed it. Went by at 5:30 on way back through. If going back to CLT I can see it there perhaps( I live there too). If now delivered to owner in CHAS I’ll watch for it on the water.

Ricky,
I really appreciate your testimate to the boat but your help even more. Not only did you put us on some amazing redfish our first time ever inshore fishing, you helped up capture some amazing pictures of the boat which is all that most people will ever get to see of her. We would definitely love to do it again soon and cant wait to see the pictures.
Thanks again,
