I think this would be a better tournament if it was done in the fall. Late October-early November. Give the inshore guys a chance. We can’t compete with the guys that go to 4ki and capers reef when the tournament is in April. Sure there are some sheeps inshore in the spring, but he big ones are still offshore at that time of the year.

Turnout would be less that time of year. The rut happens that time of year and no real deer hunter is going to pass that up to come sheephead fish! College football is another thing that cannot be overcome. Alot of people fish this tourny becasue, frankly, there isn’t much else to do that time of year! While the fishing may be better that time of year, the competition would not be. The problem is that everything in Charleston is better that time of year!

Inshore guys have won the tournament more times that the offeshore guys. It has to be calm to effectively fish for them offeshore and the mild winters we have had for awhile has kept some big sheeps inshore. Now, all this cold may make a difference this year, but it still has to be calm!

The people that you can’t really compete with are the ones that fish for a living or the ones that have a restricted place that noone else can fish all to themselves. At the end of the day, the winner still has to be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and have that big fish bite, no matter where you are!

Good Luck!
