Many go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
Penn - Here’s a couple of doctored photos. I thought the pic of your Dad in his boat was really cool.

How’d you do on crabs? Are the legal blues in deep water? And how about the softshells?
There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.
Thanks for the post Penny!
Thanks for the post and pics Penny!! I’m another of those “DY’s” that have to get my fix of the Lowcountry every year. Sharing your experiences sure help make my day!!
Ya ll make me laugh
Yak man…we were just putting the pots out that day, there was no bait available so we wanted to at least get them out so that when he got bait yesterday he could bait them up. Crabs were doing ok from what I heard…but dropped off…peeler…or what most call soft shell crabs should be showing up soon…so some of the Pots will be baited…the male crabs which are used to “entice” or lure the females into the other pots are saved from those…and usually two are put per pot…one in the pot itself and one in the bait funnel in the middle of the trap…the females go in there to see the males…guess its crab pimpin’ in a way;)…but legal. ;). The crab pots have the holes they go in and then two smaller ones that the smaller crabs usually escape through…these are blocked during Peeler season…as there is no size limit on the female" peeler "crabs…but there is on the males and the regular females…you’d be amazed ho quickly they “back out of their shells” once they start the process… It’s really a amazing process…and results in a yummy product!

Penny, I’m a former Lowcountry dweller now living in the foothills of the Blue Ridge and it’s a beautiful place BUT dang your pics make me wanna smell pluff mud again. Please keep them coming and best regards to your Dad and the rest of your family.

I can always spread a little of that puff mudd on a hallmark card and send it to you ;). Haha…won’t be the same as being here but you could wet it with a little water and take a deep sniff on those days of severe homesickness. Lol

Penny,
Not that you don’t know this already, but you are truly blessed! I doubt that there are many people who read this post who don’t wish that their relationship with their dad was a close as you have with yours. May God continue to bless you, your dad, and your whole family for years and years to come. BTW…this just might be a selfish prayer on my part because I would love to see these stories and pictures keep on coming for a LONG, LONG time!!
P.S. (Even though we’ve never met…I’m pretty sure the Big Guy upstairs continues to shine on you for all you’ve done for his other children:wink:)
