Cut Bait Bite

Now there is a name I havent heard in a coons age, Is he still around, He sure taught me alot! Another name from the old days is?
He had a machine shop in Gastonia and 2 20’ glassmasters and fished Murry or Clark Hill about 3 day a week. He was instmental in me geting out a center consold and going to a Glassmaster walkthru with a bracket and outboard. Been fishing out of it now for 33 yrs and 4 motors. What about Dick Easler from Sburg, He usta catch a lot of fish?

Fishpox, thanks for posting link, havent read that article in 20 or more years!

Being nearly 47 years of age, that article was written shortly before I got into striper fishing. My first bait tank had a Rex-Air stick that beat the hell out of the bait:smiley: it would suck up scales and make a high-pitched scream that could be heard from the Towers to the North Rec boat launch:stuck_out_tongue: Most guys had agitators like the article mentions. We’ve come a long way with air pumps and venturi aeration… Still a nice blast from the past!!

I had a kiddie pool with a comercial egg beater. Coated with rubber to keep the herring from getting beat up. I remember the silver scales mixed with blue bait saver.

There were several of us who fished untill 1987 88. I used to catch bait from the lake russel diversion canal. I would bring that bait to the lake in a kiddie pool I had rigged up with spray on insulation and a egg beater for a agitator. The D.N.R. pulled the plug on that in 1987. I guess there is a reason for everything. My biggest Lake Murry striper came from the Gap on a shellcracker. It was 36 lbs I was 18 years old.old fishermen never die they just cut bait:wink:

In the early 80’s we would leave home at 2:30 AM Sunday, drive 65mi. to Russel dam construction site, catch herring dive 70 mi to lake Murry, be there before day light, catch a cooler full of stripers and be home to clean up and attend church at 11:00 Most of the time we would have at least one fish 20 #.

[} It was King fun too
