DIY Stake Out Pole

A sturdy piece of bamboo has worked fine for me

I’m with DFreedom. I use anchor trolleys on all my yaks. Just feed the stakeout pole through the ring on the trolley and you’re done. Just wear gloves with the JB Weld, it’s sticky.

I found a cheap one for my jonboat. Look at home depot or lowes for a “sturdy stake”. It should be with all the other staking things in the garden center. It’s green and 8’ long. It’s a metal pipe covered with vinyl. It cost about $6.

It worked good the way it was, but I added some 3/4 pvc(it’s a really tight fit and I was only able to get 1.5’ into the pvc) and finished it with a T fitting to help when pulling it out and tying up. I added enough pvc to get the total length to 10’, but I haven’t been able to try it out since then.

I guess eventually I’ll buy a real one when this one breaks, but I wanted something to tryout first.

If you want the best available anchor follow the link below. 7 foot 3/4 inch solid fiberglass rod , fiberglass t-bar, sculpted foam grips, machined aluminum point. $50

*When I do buy a “real” one, I’m planning to get it from titan without a doubt.
