(**(), at one ounce to one gallon, x 180 gallons = I’d think I will probably need about 1k worth of this stuff. I’m using non-ethanal gas on this boat(treated when stored). Already ruined the last boat using that corn crap… Just heard they are now looking to pass E-15. Thanks government! Thank god the marinas have non E gas.

My motor blew at the end of june with an almost full tank (55g in a 60g tank). I use non ethanol free gas and I added stabil about 3 weeks later when I knew the motor was blown. I just got a new motor now and the fuel is still fresh. With the problems the ethanol causes I don’t understand why people don’t just drive to a non ethanol station and get the gas. It’s probably cheaper when you consider what you save in additives and it’s way cheaper when you consider repairs. the puregas website will show you where to go.

After a $500 repair bill in the Summer of 2009 (due to an ethanol induced problem), I have only used non-e gas since. Finding gas without ethanol is sometimes easier said than done and, I wonder, just how much harder it is going to get. I worry about the future of boating for folks like us.

I’ve been reading these posts and as a new boat owner I have a question about what constitutes “storage” or rather, how long is “storage?” How often do you need to go out on your boat, and for what duration, during the winter to say it is not being “stored” for the purposes of this ethanol issue of gas just sitting in your tank?

IMO storage is 8-10 weeks. I would run the boat every 3 weeks to keep fresh gas in the carbs/injectors…it also keeps the battery charged, seals limber, oil dispersed through out the engine. Smaller amounts of gas goes bad quicker than larger amounts…“gas in the bowl of the carb will be bad but drain it and the gas in the tank is fine”…I use my boat year round and as long as the gas in the tank is 100% used/replaced every 2 months I haven’t had a problem

Nice thing about living in the lowcountry is you can get several nice 65-70 deg days through out the winter…take advantage of it…New years day is suppose to be 65 deg…:smiley:

How about this…For the optimists out there, half full. For you pessimists, half empty.

how about zero percent full
