You are going to pay for oil everytime you go out in the boat. Figure 20 dollars worth of oil everytime you go out and what does that come out to in a year? Just my opinion but i would go with the four stroke for fuel economy, not having to buy oil every time you go out, reliability, quite, and better for the environment.

I have a 115 E-tec and it hasnt needed oil in 7 months. I go out about 4-6 times per month. The E-tec is not the 2-stroke of old.

This guy obviously has no experience with an etec. He is just pushing the product he sells. His opinion is pretty much worthless.

obviously if you had read this whole thread you would have seen I do not sell either one of those pieces of junk and if I was promoting my product I would be telling him to buy a yamaha. Come on guy I know you haven’t posted a lot but get in the game and do your research before you try and slam someone.

From reds to marlin you got it.

but yet you slam a company in the same thread… “I do not sell either one of those pieces of junk…”

Pot meet kettle…

you must run it in the driveway every weekend for a few minutes or so....or have a 50 gallon oil tank....

Nodoubt, What year is your E-tec?

make sure to get the longest extended warranty you can get on the etec trust me you will need it i just got rid of one that was 2 years old

Greetings from a fellow Elcid grad. I have an etec 200 High Output on the back of my 2020DC. I have had it serviced once since I purchased it in 2005. It runs like a champ and has never given me a second of trouble. The only downer is the oil. It’s about $40 a gallon and a gallon lasts about 2-3 tanks of gas [60 gallon tank]. I mostly use my boat for pulling older kids on a couple of tubes on Lake Murray so I run this thing really hard. My previous motor was a Yamaha 4 stroke and the difference is like a Corvette vs. a Prius. You will want to know where the closest etec repair shop is located so it is convenient if you need them. I’ve never needed them for my motor.

Good luck!

My Suzuki 115 4 Stroke is being rebuilt as we speak…The motor has used oil since day one, finally got it to the shop and Suzuki refused to fix it…according to them I had sucked some sand in the motor and that had caused the problem, thank goodness for State Farm…BE WARNED-JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A 6 YEAR WARRANTY DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL HONOR IT.

Thanks for the input fellas
