While you are waiting to pull the trigger, you might want to find either a surveyor or an outboard tech that can perform a pre-purchase inspection for you. That way, you will know the cost and procedure for having a boat checked out before you purchase. It would be terrible to buy a 12,000 dollar boat and thhen have the engine go kaput on you. It could happen even if you have it inspected, but at least you can decrease the risk of getting a crappy engine.
If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
I bought a 21’ Sea Pro CC Bay boat this year and love it. Been to the Grillage, The Jetties, and have fished the skinny creeks way up the Wando, Very versatile boat for the money.
My only regret, it did not come with a trolling motor. Try to find a rig that already has one, or leave enough in the boat fund to buy one afterwards.
before you do anything take a boating safety course and learn the rules of the water…that will at least make up for one more boat on the water…
Any forum members have one of the Sea Fox XT bay boats? Yes, I’ve seen the back and forths on the hull truth about Sea Fox in general and I don’t want to rehash that. Just would like to hear from anyone who actually owns one. By the way, just joined the forum after being a reader for a long time so I’m looking forward to contributing one day if I can! Thanks.
