Personally, I love fishing no matter What. One of my favorite fishing memories is of a trip to the gulf coast of fl. We were out trout fishing and getting a few here and there. It was a cold Thanksgiving weekend and the wind picked up and with it came the rain. We were with a group of about ten guys on three guided boats. All the other boats headed in to watch football and our boat suited up in rain gear and changed our game plan. We just drifted over oyster beds with the wind and cast as hard as we could with mirror lures.Man, did we wear out the trout that day. It was every cast almost for everyone on the boat for a long time. Also, when I was kid we would see it start raining and head to the creek or pond for top water large mouth/ shoal bass action. To each his own my friends.

If you are a redfish enthusiast, your best research needs to be done during the COLD months. In order to catch reds during all tidal situations during the year, you have to make sure you are at least throwing AROUND fish. In the winter when the water is clear, you can follow each school throughout the tide to mark how and where they move. Even though they spread out during the warmer months, they will be in the same general area all year long. Fishing Dec-Feb the last 2 winters I would call paying your dues, but this year has been like fishing early Spring the entire time.
Well said… Winter water clarity can show you why fish hold in certain areas in the summer. Wanna know what’s around you favorite summer dock, flat or other area this is a great time to look. You can clearly see in 6’ of water. What a way to find summer spots to try, plus you never know when you’ll run across that school of 300 reds.
