Fishing & Catching!
Hope ya have a bunch of Kodak moments saved.
Day 7: Final day of fishing. Quickest day yet filling the bait well, the greenies showed up quick. Headed back into the mangroves hoping for some snook or snapper but no go so we headed back into the harbor looking for bait schools. They were there again and we found a few more Spanish as well as a school of short trout and some jacks. Connor had 2 fairly decent sharks on the line and we got them boat side (I don’t bring sharks in the boat). Some dark clouds and gusty winds chased us back into the mangroves where we caught a few more mangroves and then called it a day.
No epic days but, I’m pretty happy with what we accomplished considering we had never fished here before. Props to my wife who got all of our food together every day, threw out bait chum every morning and fixed every dang knot and bird nest we created. Man I got a good one with her!
We’ve had a great time here and are already talking about coming back. Tomorrow is sight seeing, a boat ride over to Cayo Costa and then Cabbage Key for a cheeseburger and then the dreaded pack up to return to the real world. Thanks for letting me share our trip with y’all.
Plenty of pics Dave, I’m the sentimental type (shut up Pea).
MBOGO, I got your PM. I’ll answer your questions and send you some info when I get home. You might want to send me a reminder PM as I’ll be swamped at work when I get back but I won’t leave you hanging.

Be careful at cabbage key. Went there a few years ago and met a mean group of otters. Left the boat at the dock and came back to find they had unzipped a zipper cooler, unlatched the bait well, and chewed into lunch boxes. Anything remotely edible was long gone. Every. Single. Pinfish.
