General areas to shrimp

The shoaling in Bulls Bay from year to year can be horrible, places we shrimp year before, too deep or too shallow. Watch the winds they will lift your boat onto a oyster bed quickly- that is sound you will never forget. (Oh SHTZL) Wind and tide is everything in that area, we have seen people walking their boat off a flat times due to not minding the tide and they look like they are out in the middle of the ocean. A good depth finder is a must.

Go with someone, you may fall out of the flippin boat- it is 3-4 miles from the landing! If it is windy put on the homemade Velcrow bottom shoes, turn your hat on backwards, cinch that that bathing suit tight, and hold on!Your boat will bob like a cork but if they are running your heart is pounding like crazy trying to fly back to the first pole- they may only be there for a few hours. (Swoon a girl to help you drive the boat & you catch more shrimp.)We have coolered out many times within a few hours in Bulls Bay with a few bruises in exchange. We WILL NOT leave if they are running. The shrimp are bigger farther out… Tide and wind are your friend and foe-respect them. (If we head into BB and see white caps at 7-8am, seek plan b and c locations, it will be windy all day and you will fight it.)There are some web sites for wind.

+What she said. If the wind is blowing out of the east (east, northeast, southeast) don’t bother.
