Going back on Lake Murray tomorrow

I religiously use the San Diego Jam Knot, and I have still had problems with Vanish.

JMO,

Seaguar is hands down the best leader material.IMHO. I use it for 95% of my fly leaders(rarely do I use floaters for rockfish). 20# for everything(8-10 weight) except 14# for the 7-weight.

But I just sling feathers and a little hardware.

I have been using the uni knot with no issues on both the Power Pro and also the swivel on the Vanish floro. On the hook I always use snell knots with no issues either. perhaps its your knot?

I will give Segar a try on my first break off though.

I also tie the uni knot on all lines! I also change leaders from swivel to hook after every good fish. I can tie a uni knot in my sleep as quick as most of my friends can cut off their line!

The difference between a uni-knot and a San Diego Jam knot is one step. but apparently really improves the knot strength.

l’m uni all the way on swivels and lures. With my hooks, I snell. Most of the time, the hook rotates, whether circle or offset, to hook fish right in the corners of their mouths.

Just looked up the San Deigo knot and it seem to be a type of improved clinch knot, I’m gona try it!

I would call it an improved uni-knot.
