There is also a launch site on the backside of Sullivan’s Island which I believe will be even closer to you. Follow Station 26 St. back to the marsh (dirt road). Probably not as many options to fish but very close by. My son and I put in there yesterday because it was our first time and I felt like it would be safe and close by. Tide times were not the best but he hooked up with a 24" red and I caught a flounder just under-size. All in all, we learned a lot about kayak fishing and just had a blast. Good luck to you.
Sounds like a great outing with your son. And a good catch…hope I can find similar success! Thanks for the update and the tip. What rig were the two of you using? Standard two-hook deal with cut mullet? Shrimp?
You’ve just got to love fishing in the lowcountry. Reds have been on fire, you just have to put in the seat time.

I was fishing a pearl white gulp shrimp on a Carolina rig and my son was fishing a mud minnow on a jighead.
