Mayb it’s a good idea to take them off and clean them periodically. I’m going to get one thanks to your recommendation. Been on the fence.
I can remember when all outboards had sheer pins on the prop shaft! Use to have to go overboard to change the one on my dads Scott Atwater 18, could not reach it over the cowling. Ruff in the winter time. Use to fish the upper end of Clarks Hill and it was full of stumps. Hit some thing out of Islamarada one time back in the 50’s and dropped the cotter pin, came in with a big shark hook of a pin.

I took mine off and cleaned it and the TM and prop (inside and out) after every trip. I had the prop not off about 4 weeks (the last time I was out) before this trip.
