Great Trout week (w/PICS)

wow i thought i had seen it all on here… WOW

What a hypocrite! Quit preaching catch and release if you’re going to post pics like this!

These pictures are from 5 years ago. DNR had not issued any statements regarding Trout that year. Hoppy and I caught close to 100 fish that day and kept what you see in the picture. Those fish fed 10 people that night and not any of it was left over. Hoppy was learning how to catch trout that day and he was a little slow on the bite and kept gut hooking them, once he learned how to catch them he did much better.

For F#@ks Sake! Why bother fishing if once in a while you don’t keep a few to eat. 99% of the people on this site release most of the fish caught. Myself included. Every once in a while someone will post about catching (and) keeping a few fish for dinner and every tree-hugging jackwagon will start *****ing and moaning about it. I, like everyone else on here, have invested thousands of dollars in boat and gear and dang sure intend to keep dinner once in a while. Get over it. We fish. Sometimes we keep. I’ve seen days where 50+ trout or reds are caught and released (even slot fish) and the poster gets nailed the next trip for keeping 3 for dinner. Be a winner…not a whiner.

I ain’t picking sides because sometimes I release sometimes I keep (never caught a gator trout) but, it seems to me that a whole lot more trout/reds are caught than flounder. Does no one love or care about the delicious flatties? I am kidding but, kind of got to thinking about it and I personally have caught very few flounder compared to trout/reds.

You have to some ability to catch flounder for the most part. Reds and trout will eat just about anything when they are in a feeding pattern. Flounder are a little more picky and need to be enticed into eating. This post should prove that even an idiot like myself can catch trout. I would be willing to say that most Flounder that are caught are by “accident” meaning the target species was probably something else. A few people still take the time to specifically target Flounder and can do well with it.

DF hire Stretch to take you flounder fishing for an afternoon and listen and try to learn what he does. He is one of the few people I know that has the patience, knowledge and willingness to fish for them.

…and even less ability to stab them while they sleep.

Thanks Fritz. Now I know.

I’m not going to bash anyone for keeping a few fish to eat. But eating them with someones bare beet on the table? And drinking Ultra? Disgusting, show some self respect. Put on some shoes and get a case of Miller Lite.

Nice Trout! Welcome back 6ft and Glassy

I hate beets to. 100% agreed

Hey Capt. Fritz, pictures from 5 years ago?? Why would you post 5 year old pics in an attempt to “pull the wool” over the readers eyes? Phony!!

I don’t think flounder are any more difficult to target than reds or trout. I’ve got a few flounder holes that usually produce at least a fish or two pretty quickly and if you really want to get into them you can load up on some big ones when they are on the wrecks. I kinda suck at consistently catching trout and reds.
