Great White at the Georgetown hole!!

Good find. Yeah they totally killed that shark. It was only a 12’ shark and not the 3500lb beast we have off our coast. Do you think they actually ate it or just finned it to sell to the Chinese? Probably both.

it probably fed a few villages or something, in which case i dont have a big problem with, but otherwise i cant stand the finners’

Yeah after I thought about it, if it was just finned then they would have tossed the carcass and the satellite tag back into the ocean instead of hauling the whole thing back. I wonder if it tastes like Mako?

identical to Mako (Whites have kidneys and are a warm blooded shark)

I just changed the settings on the left side of the map to show the last month, and WOW!! This shark has been off our coast since October 13th!! Now, I’m talking really far out and deep, but still, she has taken up station out there for something. Pretty cool.

Plus, if you put the track to show the past year, and then look off of the coast of South Africa . . . . I’ll never swim in that water, let me tell ya.

Did anyone notice the one still in new england. I guess either lost communication or whent to davey jones locker? Sent data for a few weeks after tagging and then quit?

the one off our coast and the one around new england probably went out to deeper water with the storm and all, so they probably wont surface for a while.

What do you think, dress out about 1800 lbs? Could you imagine 1800lb of Mako tasting slabs! Sells off topic, but can you get Mako to sell and if so how much?

I watched that show this year (Shark Wranglers) and believe me, those dudes are amazing. They kept losing Great Whites to bent and broken hooks until they forged their own and came up with the technique of attaching buoys to the leader after fighting the fish for a while. Then they lead it to the lift which is partially submerged and one guy jumps into the lift with the shark…crazy stuff but they are finally getting some good science.

She is getting closer!!!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Did the site get hacked or something? Looks like she wound up in someones back yard for a little while?

yea, looks like she was in Beresford creek!

I’d say she took a little sightseeing tour. Can you imagine being on beresford crrek on a poling skiff and having a 3 foot high fin come out of the water beside you.

Now she’s all the way down near Savannah. I can’t believe how far she came inshore in Charleston !!

The site didn’t get hacked! They used Apple Map.

I guess we just never know what might be lurking nearby.

What gets me is the fact that there weren’t any other pings on her trip in or out. She must have been down out of sight the entire trip.

Yes, I can [:0] One night we were flounder gigging in a little creek that fed from the ocean side of Little Tybee Island, an area we call Beach Hammock. The creek was only about 15’ wide and 3’ deep at low tide. We were poling up the creek in a 16’ jon boat and heard a heck of a commotion in front of us. Both guys on the bow put their spotlights on it, and it looked like a Trident submarine barreling down the creek straight at us. The dorsal fin was about 3-4 feet high and it looked like half the body was out of the water and it was heading for us at full speed.

The 2 men in the bow turned and ran as fast as they could for the stern where I was, not sure where they were running to in a 16 boat, but they were going the other way. About that same time the shark hit the boat at full speed, threw it and us up in the air and flipped it upside down. The dang thing never even slowed down, just kept hauling @ss for the ocean, which was a good thing because we were all in the water, for a couple of seconds anyway. I barely got my feet wet getting on the bank:smiley:

The whole encounter only lasted about 5 seconds, but something I’ve never forgot.

I would have crapped my drawers.

I didn’t realize great whites came inshore. I thought they were more of a deepwater shark.

I don’t wan

The fish did not come inshore at least not into Charleston Harbor as indicated. These locations are approximate as there is a potential error based on which statelite picks up the signal. (usually plus or minus 50 miles) A number of years ago when SCDNR was sat tagging billfish they had some animals that had tracks indicating they were at Disney in Orlando especially in the winter. If the fish goes through the Florida Straits we will probaly see similar tracks onto land. LAND SHARK!!! More precise locations can be calculated by the researcher after the fact.

I was in the creek for most of the day yesterday. Never saw anthing. It must be an error because I was fishing with the infamous trout trick. If it was in the creek I’m sure it would have triggered a “reaction bite”.
