Bug Catcher, well said and I agree, yet Bolbie also has some good point as well-- i personally usually hang out down there for a bit and don’t shoot anything off the rip just to see if some bigger guys show up

Ditto! It's not about the kill. It's about the hunt!

The first dive, landed us right in the middle of dozens of medium sized gags & some decent scamps. Ed took the first shot, which brough in even more to shoot at. We didn’t drop, with the intention of shooting everything around, and we didn’t. I know that the shots I took, were close in, where I could get a good estimate on the size. Hell… The one Gag in the hole, I could have measured by hand, if I had a tape with me. He was stuck in a hole, and we had to drag him out by his tail (two handed).

There is PLENTY more left to harvest down there. We barely dented the population, and that is just estimating the numbers of fish that we COULD see. Who knows how many fish were down there, just outside of our visible range.

A funny thing about diving… There were two decent size triggers that were following us around the structure like little puppies. I didn’t want to shoot them, since I have been bit in the past, while trying to string 'em! They really didn’t want to leave us alone. On the second dive, there were dozens of spades and a handful of sheeps that followed along again. Hard to be a sneaky diver, when you have a few schools of fish watching your every move.

Anyway. We didn’t decimate the ocean, and a few legal gags around 26 inches won’t hurt that population at all.

I bet they ate good.

those triggers are crazy how they will try and bite u or get as close as possible to doing it even after u have them on the stringer- strong lil bastards

Skeeter_D, I don’t think anyone has a problem with you killing a couple of the fish. I think that they are just poking fun at you for mentioning that you poked a “big gag” (most of us thing a big gag is a tad bit bigger than legal). It’s just some harmless ribbing. It’s like saying that you spooned with a “hot” girl who measures a 3 or 4 on everyone else’s standards!

Also, if a trigger tries to bite you, then clearly you can powerhead him in self defense!

Funny anology… No offense taken, at all.

Ugly girl or not… How many divers have caught a 26-28 inch gag by hand??? Maybe not a world record by itself, but it was a memorable moment for me… All is good.

I was attacked by a trigger one time…he went for the jewels, but luckily he had some steel thru his eyes and missed. (**() near took my leg off. I almost didn’t make it back to the boat…

My numbers are so secret even the fish don’t know where they are…

Now THIS was a big gag, showing his charcoal belly.

…and this bruiser may be even bigger.
