Right now I’m rigged up with 65lb pp to about 20 feet of 80lb mono. My leader is about 5 feet of 95lb cable wire. Should I switch that up a bit?
Personally I use 250-550lb mono for my leader section, that way i can replace the bite leaders easy when they are kinked up or if I used cheap wire and it rusts it is easy to cut and retwist. Is that on a spinning or conventional reel?
@Wicked it will be an afternoon - morning trip, say… 4pm - 10am. Obviously you don’t have to hang out the whole time, but I want to cover all of the prime hours

Spinning. Fierce 7000. Sooner or latter I’m going to upgrade to a spinfisher v or maybe fin nor.
That 20 feet of 80lb mono may actually hurt your casting distance, which is important when trying to also cast a 5-7’ leader behind it. I would make sure there is heavy mono on the casted leader and less wire. Take that 80lb mono off and either use the straight 65 braid or replace the 80 with 30lb.

I’ve been thinking my casting distance is down on that set up. Makes sense. So braid to a 200# or so leader to deal with skin followed by cable bite leader?
