Hey hey hey P-k you know I don’t exagerate like that. In fact you’ve been on the boat i’m talking about. Remember I had to get out and push us off that oyster bar in …March(???)
The 63mph was with just me. And it was GPS speed. I’ll admit most of the time I ran it in the high 50’s. Sixty plus felt a little unsafe for an old man. Load may be half a tank (24 gal.of gas). Three batteries and Tm of course. I left the rear storage compartments almost empty and put any stuff i wanted to carry up front to avoid exagerating the bass boat stern heavy set up that boat has. Im not sure I can help much more.

Holy smokes, Richard … long time, no talk. Thought you had crossed the ocean for good .
Was just pulling chains. Please say you still have that boat. Very very nice ride. Could almost convert a MHP guy .
Hi there P-K. No we are still here. I think we’re done with Europe.
The 191 is gone am now running a 184. Have to figure out all that stuff about power, trim, jack plate hight, and decent prop all over. Its not as fast as the 191 and that wasn’t (as someone else said) as fast as a 19 ft bass boat with a 200. The fastest I heard from any 191 owner was also high 60’s with an hdpi.
Hope you are catching a few…and just so you remember it’s your turn to take me fishing!
the hopper/floyd team who fish(ed) one of the redfish tours had a 191 w/ a 200 hpdi. If I remember correctly they were running a 24 tempest that had been worked. I thought they were seeing mid-high 60’s (gps) out of their boat. I would expect the opti to be capable of running as strong.
I was wanting to switch from my 23 to the 24 tempest, but didnt want to spend the money for another prop only to jump 1 pitch. any idea what mph diff it would make. prob 2 mph?
If you wanna try another prop size look up Mercury props on eBay. Retail for most SS props is $600+. I found lots of used for 250/300. The one I got looked new to me.
Matching a prop to a boat is a science with many factors including desired rpm, pitch, cup, no. of blades, slippage, engine height, trim, hull design, weight etc etc.
you are going the wrong direction if you go up in pitch to get more rpms. sounds like a 22 or 21 is where you need to be. I think the rule of thumb is 200 rpm for every inch of pitch.
you should ask you questions on some of the bass fishing boards. those guys know to do it. There was/is a guy on wmi.org named Rich Boger who is an expert.
