I normally troll at night quite a bit this time of year, but between the storms/wind and working late I can’t seem to get out there lately. Hoping to change that tomorrow night. Will post how it goes.

Four of my five were over … every boat was reeling in big fish sometimes there were four and five boats hooked up all at the same time on the side of the towers I was on.
Funny thing about it. I have been fishing lake murray for thirty years. Never had any luck around towers … always kinda figured it was just crowd mentality. Know now that its worth a shot now and again.
Back in July of 98, I caught my first couple of fish over 20 pounds at the…(Wait for it!)… Towers!

Back in the late eighties you could find schools of striped bass that would come up to feed on the surface and stay up for a couple hours at a time … same spot every evening for a month at a time. I never see anything like this anymore. Is it boat traffic, fishing pressure or just that I have lost the luck of my youth ?
I personally know of 3 I say 3 30# fish that came from the towers last summer. And I mean tied up to them, not just saying the tower area.
I lost one there 4 yrs ago that brought a tear to my eye. Never seen it but after 10min u know its a good one.
Last yrs lake world overnight tx was won by Guy who sat there all night, and he had some good ones.
There are always some big fish there.

We fished that tournament with the plans of geting us a big one trolling that night. There was a bunch of boats at the towers that evening as we put in and I remember discussing if fishing the towers should even be allowed in a tournament …as if we were too far above that.
We trolled a few hours without a fish when Guy called and said they had turned on at the towers. I recall doing a little cranking motion while on the phone to tell my friend Rob to start cranking the lines in before I even got off the phone and we were on our way.
We didn’t have much bait with us, but did get our 4 and at least got to watch the winning fish be caught. lol
That’s always a fun tournament with some really nice door prizes.
BTW, Guy owns Fishy Business on Bush River and has been in the aquarium business for many years. For any of you guys who keep bait at the house or are considering it, he is very knowledgeable on what it takes to keep bait alive for long periods of time.
