Its truly a sad day for River Rats.

Brian whats up man? Long time no see. I’ve been keeping up with this topic for a while now as a lurker because I caught wind of it. Anyways my name pops up on the www and it’s time to sign up lol!! Anyways I heard that someone called you and asked you to remove the “how to fish the saluda” part from your post. I don’t know about death threats. I know a lot of thse boys and they would never threaten a life. Those guys have fished that river for a long time, they know when they are there, when to pitch plugs to when to use live bait. They learned all that and just hated it to pop up on the internet. The whole thing is a lot of people do not fish that stretch due to access and rapids. Your right no secret but no one fishes it but the airport bc boys(mostly) and they have done it most of their lives. Hell one of them has saved a many of people who got stranded from rising water.

Bottom line is it’s no secret for sure. Lots of people do not know what bait to use therefore don’t have the balls to run the rapids to pitch plugs to not catch anything. Therefore you recieved a call apparently to ask you to remove the techniques from your post so everyone and there brother who reads how to stuff want show up to fish because they read “this is how you do it” and I don’t believe anyone of them would threaten your life.

Brian no hard feelings man. I don’t even striper fish but a bunch of my friends do. I just saw my name pop up.

PS. Trevor I love your sign in name

I don’t have any feelings period. Except my thumbs hurt from stickin em. I agree Kevin, limited access is great, and we hope it stays like that.

Whatever guys…I see all of you are new to this site. That’s cool and all but for the past two years I and others have been sharing ideas and spots on here. I was introduced to this site by a fishing buddy just as many of you probably were. I learned a lot sitting back and following what was going on, and then meeting and talking to folks on here about things. I posted this message because of the threats I received while fishing with a fella from this site. We were having a great day that was ruined by some jerk who called from an unlisted number talking crap and making threats. My point was that it’s sad someone would stoop to that over a fishing spot. I agree Panther Martins are great lures to use fishing for trout on the river, but for those just starting out Corn helps them get into catching trout. As for fly fishing…never had a chance to do it, but I’m sure if I did I would love it. Anyhow as for Trevor and Kevin…their good guys and I have always respected the fact they are great outdoorsman. I also don’t believe it was them that called…both are better then that. I’m sure it was someone we all know being as we agreed most folks down there are BC or AHS grads, but whoever it was grew silent as I figured they would. Plus if you notice I haven’t added anything more about specific spots. I respect what some of you said, but I don’t think that post did anything to change who is or how many folks are fishing the river. Anyhow hope ya’ll enjoy this site as much as I have. God Bless,

No problem B. Glad we got all that cleared up. I lurk here a good bit, esp on the offshore forum and I’m a regular on another talk forum, so I know how aliases pop up.

You still at Lake World? I seen Blizzard the other day for the 1st time in years, you can’t drag him out to wet a hook?

No problem here either, See yall on the big stand.

Don’t forget those of us on the Irmo side of that river. Corky and I grew-up fishing that river, and I have to admit it is pretty tough to see all the boats going a little further down stream each year. Used to be you could go below I-20 and see (3) boats max. I think most people used to be scared of that river, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now. I do agree with Coach B though, I enjoy seeing people on the river having a good time, but I’ll let them find most of the holes on their own!!! Good luck all!

If anyone who fishes the river finds a mercury motor cover it is mine. i lost one about three weeks ago.

trevor bedell

Wccp yall still been hangin out on the sandbar on Sundays?

Coach
I agree with Hammerhead
I’ll post em
The river belongs to ALL not just a few
To Threaten anyone for trying to aid fellow fishermen
shows the class of chump they are.
And I would put the law on the Callers if possable.

Thanks Gopher…I wish I knew who the jerks were, but like I said it was unlisted so theres no telling. I’m pretty sure the voices weren’t guys I knew growing up. The voices and way they talked sounded older…and a bit drunk. Anyhow hope we can put this conversation to bed now, and get back to why we all got on here in the first place…lets talk fishing. Anyone seen anything on the Striper this week at the lake? The guys I’ve talked to coming in at the ramp this week all had only one or two keepers. I picked up a nice Large Mouth, but I don’t want the jug heads…I want some real fish. Kevin…you can find me up at Lake World some, but I’m working for Best Buy and Aflac now. Plus coaching back at BC. Also talked to Jamie the other night…he got cold feet on fishing cause of the rain…lol thats the night I got the 10lbs jug head on an ultralight…could have been his and I didn’t get a drop of rain on me. Anyhow hope to see ya’ll around and if anyone hears anything on the Striper at the lake let me know…God Bless,
