North Jersey, but I grew up fishing the party boats Jamacia and Gambler outta Brielle, and Belmar, and Pt. pleasant, and the Surf for Big Stripers and Blues. Great fishing at Sandy Hook too, and IBSP. The blitzes they have are great.

fished that same day with nothing but tuna…also released a snookie

Striper junkie, I grew up in Sussex county then moved to Parsippany when I was a teenager. I joined the Air Force out of high school and have been in Charleston ever since. Over 17 years now. I grew up lake and river fishing in NW Jersey. Trout in the rivers, large mouth, pickerel, and such. My salt water experiences didn’t really start until I move down here.

Sounds like a great day on the water. Way to get to get on the fish.

I tried to get a hold of you Jason before I left to tell you about it first hand. Sorry I couldn’t get in touch. I hope you can find your way out there soon man. I’ll be talking to you soon as I have 1 more trip still planned.

Thanks for sharing the photos and video, looks like an awesome day. Not bad for a couple of Jersey boys. I grew up in Belmar and Spring Lake Heights. Gotta get used to the aquadump abuse though. My favorite is “flush twice, Jersey is a long way off”. Still, got some great memories growing up on the Jersey shore.

Many go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

it takes a lot longer than 17 years to get all of that grease washed out of your hair.

True, but I’ll always know what a true diner is like, what REAL pizza is, if there is a difference between the shore and the beach, catch bunker and fluke, what makes a bagel great, say “dawg” and “wahter,” be able to navigate a jug handle, and know what it’s like to not have to pump my own gas!! LOL!!

Charlie boys doing work!

I just got back to S.C. this morning probably gonna head out this weekend. I love fishing out of Shark River in Belmar Mountainman1 but it’s hard to beat the fishing in S.C. Took me 10 1/2 hours to get here pulling my boat so not bad at all.

I remember a Blue run on the beach as a kid in Belmar. They only last a short while (maybe half hour?), and the anglers love 'em and throw out anything shiny. They were so thick, I saw someone walk into the surf and grab a Blue by hand and walk back onto to the beach with it. Who would do that? Anyway, another fun memory. Striper Junkie, enjoy your return to SC. Hopefully you get good weather to get out this weekend.

Ok this is really what I call Super Fantastic. What type of boat were you on and how far out we’re you. I have been on the big lakes many miles off shore but have not run off the coast line

Well, as my sig pic shows, I run a 22’ Sea Pro CC. The Southwest Banks area is about 50 miles from the end of the jetties. It’s a simple boat, not much flare, but I’m learning how to use it and bring fish in. It does the job I need it to do, and so far she’s done well.

Sirecks–just curious, what is the difference between the beach and the shore? Nice fishing!
