Jigging Reel (avet maybe?)

I would also consider checking out the PENN Torque 2 speed. I personally like the 25N because it is narrow which balances nicely on the rod but you can easily work the line back and forth with your thumb while palming the side of the reel. These reels also feature a double-dog ratchet anti-reverse which makes them bullet proof. Max drag is also more than plenty for what you are wanting to do.http://www.pennreels.com/products/reels/conventional-reels/lever-drag-reels/torque-2-speed

Nasty Dog, what are the chances of “trying out” that reel?

When only the corners of the dogs contact, they have a tendency to break off and need replacement. This is a bad problem and weakness in the star drags especially, but maybe not in that lever drag since engaging the drive train with a lever drag’s friction plate is like a clutch operates instead of a sudden engagement like a star drag’s on/off positions.

Someone said bulletproof. Below is the anti-reverse system in Avet’s smallest and cheapest reel, a single speed SX, that I cleaned and relubed. Note the lack of sharp corners on the dogs and the gear sprocket where impacts cannot get concentrated and cause breakage. No way for these to break or sheer without breaking the aluminum frame housing of the reel itself. Not gonna happen. Have not had an anti-reverse problem with an Avet yet to this day.

My favorite grouper reels, btw:

nasty dawg how much is the torque and what rod would you pair it with?

Rhotchki pricing is listed below per size. As for rod it depends on what type of fishing you are doing but either jigging or bottom fishing I would recommend a Bluewater Carnage rod. I prefer a CARJG65100C62 with a TRQ25NLD2 for all around bottom bouncing and jigging.

TRQ15LD2 $549.95
TRQ25NLD2 $579.95
TRQ30LD2 $579.95
TRQ40NLD2 $599.95

Sellsfish I have a 25N that I am willing to let you try. PM me with your address and we can go from there. After Sellsfish has had some time with the reel I am willing to let others try it as long as everyone stays honest and the reel does not wonder off.
