Just Curious ...

RICK S I live in Chapin .If I lived a few minutes from JCs and put in at koons landingalot as you do I would go in to JCs in person and look in his tank or tanks and see for my self what the situation is with the bait they sell and then make my
Own decision on the quality of their bait. Just my suggestion and my honest thoughts on this particular item. Let’s Fish .Short and sweet.

I agree let the guy charge what he wants. I know if I was selling bait I would charge more. I tell Jimmy Jones all the time that he is too cheap. I’ve been out with Jimmy Jones catching bait. It’s very hard work. Nets are expensive, so is fuel, boats, trucks, etc. I will say that bait coming out of Murray just seems softer than bait out of Clark Hill, Russell, or Hartwell. I have caught bait on Murray myself and it is really no good for cut baiting as it tears and doesn’t stay on the hook very well.

I know this is old, but on 4/12 I decided to go out about 7 in the evening. I went to Davids because I knew Lake World closed at 7. David had no bait. My choice was go to JC’s and pay $8 or don’t use bait since the Murray bait is so small right now. He was already closed and was counting his money. He didn’t have change so he gave me 3 dozen for $20 even. We ended up only using a dozen so I had 2 dozen left. Yesterday they were still alive and in perfect condition in my 30 gallon SBT II. I just got tired of charging the battery knowing I wont be going until Wednesday. The water had zero smell and I never even had to empty the scale catcher. Only had two baits die all week. I have never been able to hold bait in my tank for more then 2 days. Bottom line is it’s nice to have another bait option on the lake and JC seems like a good guy, I wish him the best.

Well written reply steelytom. I think you covered all the bases. Sounds good. I’d say you got your money’s worth at a fair rate.

Oh by the way, I forgot to add: Holy Crap! 8 days for 2 dozen herring in a 30 gallon SBTII! That’s pretty incredible. I think by “cured” they really meant their herring were “on meth or on steroids”!
