Reelman, have the owner of the boat check his boat insurance. He may have emergency services protection in his policy, usually they’ll cover up to 1000 w/ no deductible. I know Allstate has it, but it depends on the policy and type of coverage - thats too bad about the foot.

Insurance?

Seriously, You’re lucky.
“What if” you made it to the ledge and then the lower unit went out?

That boat has no shade, the radio range is very limited, etc…

A few of these guys on here have offered to take you on a “dolphin trip” and help get you started. You insist on going on your own in a “ill-equipped” boat and take an inexperienced crew.
This weekend could have ended a lot worse for you and your crew.

My dumbass has no towing service etc as ive put it off since it isnt my boat. BAD CHOICE!
You need to look a lot deeper to find the real lessons from this adventure. I hate to blast you or anybody else, that is something that I just don't do...but......You need to quit being such a "dumbass" before we read about you in the paper.

Sorry, I felt somebody had to say it.

So b/c I didn’t have seatow I’m a dumbass and shouldn’t go fishing and just go with other people? What’s the difference if I had Seatow? A lesser towing bill. You make no sense here bud… If I had a t-top then we could all cuddle under it? Not as much worried about the shade. If I made it to my destination first, which I’m glad I didn’t, I had 2 buddies on different boats out there fishing in the same area. Wouldn’t have been an issue. I didn’t want to ruin anyone elses fishing day that’s why we didn’t wait to hail any other boaters and just requested the tow in…

Mullet Man, boat has insurance to cover $1000 in towing.

You insist on going on your own in a “ill-equipped” boat and take an inexperienced crew.

I’ve talked to others about going but plan

And still no clue… Seriously tho, you need to reread RDW’s second to last line and attempt to fix that problem first. Sometimes tho, that just can’t be fixed.

I didn’t call you a dumbass, You did!!
Re-read some of your own posts.

There it is again!!! I've seen your boat, It is "ill-equipped" for a day at the ledge if the temps are gonna flirt with 100 degrees. Have you never heard of heat-stroke and over-exposure. All that white inside of your hull just reflects the sun onto you. How many times have you ever heard the CG responding to chest pains offshore? It happens all the time during this heat. Clint Eastwood made famous an expression "A man's got to know his limitations" Apparently you are still seeking yours. That's OK as long as you live to when you have found them. Honestly I'm glad you are all safe and didn't want to seem like I was busting your balls in my previous post,(Honestly!!!) but IMO you get too excited about getting into the dolphin and let that cloud your otherwise good judgement. That's only my opinion so it ain't really worth 2 rolls of rat hockey. Maybe I should just keep it to myself. Carry-on young man.

This is classic…

“Never argue with an idiot…he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”

Sorry for the bad time. I tried and heard several others calling you yesterday. At least you caught some fish for your trip.

Yea steve we got a later than planned start. I called you around 6 last night and left you a message. We had tough time with CG on 16 b/c it seemed somebody kept keying there radio and keeping it on. They finally switched us to a different channel. RDW we have a very large bimini top on the boat just didn’t put it up.

You do know if there is a problem on 16, you can call them 22a?? You are an accident waiting to happen.

21 Contender

Shouldn’t this be in the discussion section or maybe even boat and motor section? And here I am replying. WTF People can be a little harsh on this site but SAFETY superceeds cathing fish any day. Not all of us grew up doing this. I have only been fishing offshore for 5 years but was fortunate to have a group of guys show me the ropes. If you don’t know or need advice ask questions and please get a freakin tow boat or sea tow memberhip! $125 is nothing. I hope you have epirb, hand held radio, gps etc… If you break down again, Shady Lady can run you some cool beer.

LOL, PB & j’s, 6 or 7 gallons of water and ckn salad sandwhiches were also a plenty…We broke down guys, that’s all. Wasn’t the end of the world. And yes, we spoke to CG on 22a after we told them multiple times they weren’t coming through clear so they asked us to change.

heard you on the radio, glad you made it back safe and somewhat lighthearted about the situation.
Last year when I had to get towed, people kept asking me if I was broken down. Nope, too drunk to drive so this was cheaper than a cab. Here’s your sign.

“it’s called the head, but poop deck would make more sense”
