KingKiller, thanks for the post. My heart hurts for you. My dad used to run the river in his jon boat by himself a good bit. My mom asked him to wear his PFD when he was alone, and he wore it after that. I figured if he can, I can.
Being a good swimmer doesn’t help if you are unconscious or injured badly.
If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
I simply don’t fish alone,but when my boat is underway,I’ve got my PFD on and kill switch attached… I’ve also got one other indispensable item that I never leave the dock without… Stay safe everybody!
I wear a stearns camo float coat for duck hunting and winter fishing. The tag says it a PFD, I forget which classification of PFD. Its actually a little too warm once the sun comes up.
