I had one welded on my aluminum trailer so the boat would fit in the back yard. The tongue was steel so it was not an issue.

Haha! My buddy’s dad did that for his Scout in his garage…and he has been happily married for 50 years. It only stuck out about a foot and it actually didn’t look that bad.
if tongue is aluminum, swap for galvanized and install swing tongue
