Making the switch to braid

when you do get wind knots be very gentle with them and you can usually get them out. most of the time it is not really even a knot, but if it is and you pull it tight, its over.

I have been fishing braid for as long as I can remember, almost to a fault because I have mental block about using fluorocarbon, but I am getting over that. I cant say that i have expreienced braided knotting or nesting anymore than fluoro with a baitcaster or spining reel, however when it has if your not careful the knots can tighten more easily and become a “reel” pain to get out.:stuck_out_tongue:

You have two ears and one mouth, science would say you should listen twice as much as you speak.

I’ve heard that if you get a wind knot on braid you can rub the snarl with Chapstick and it will untangle easily. Of course, I have not had a wind knot since I heard this…

also, many reels now are designed to reduce wind knots (stradic, battle, ect). And many times wind knot happen because the line it too heavy. So, if you are using 30 lb braid and getting a ton of wind knots, 20 lb may help reduce them.
