No kidding on Cupka not even acknowledging someone.
I spoke directly to him at the council meeting in Raleigh a while back. He never once looked up. He stared at a piece of paper while pretending to be writing notes. He was actually just scribbling a bunch of circles.
Can we like get in front of this dudes house with lights and picket signs…?..Seems like we could peacefully make him miserable…and stay within the law.
With rates so low, now may be the perfect time to refinance or purchase your dream home. If you are thinking about home financing give me a ring!</font id=“blue”>
I recently bought 2 pieces of 4ft hickory just no I better not go there,Sells I have never met you and now that I know what this clown looks like, well I better not go there either but thanks for the picture.
I am sick of all of this bull**** from all of these con politicians and all there crap agency appointments and so forth.I was very involved when we tried to stop the “corp” from running backpump turbines on lake russell but a federal judge 1 person decided its fate.
Capt. Mark and all the rest of you I commend you for the effort to fight and encourage all NOT to give up!!!; that is exactly what they want from us.Call and right your Reps.
I don’t have a boat anymore and I’M fumeing!!!
As I said in my opening statement, this new push for more MPA’s comes from a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of Columbia in 2012. The Plaintiff is the NRDC Natural Resources Defense Council and the Defendant is the NMFS National Marine Fisheries Service, which is a branch of NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
David Cupka is the chairman of the SAFMC South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council and has nothing to do with this.
I want you to know the facts so your not apt to use someone as a scapegoat here in this situation and I’m trying to explain to you where this is coming from and where it might be heading.
This is as bad of a tangled mess as I have ever seen and it could get much worst.
The order for looking into creating more alternatives came directly from the SE director of the NMFS Dr. Roy Crabtree and not the SA council. It was by decree that Dr. Roy issued this demand to the SG committee at the last fishery meeting in NC.
I believe this was done in response to the lawsuit filed and then using his authority to direct efforts toward creating evidence that the NMFS was doing everything according to the national standards of the law (MSA) to end overfishing of SH & WG.
Another thing to point out, check out the link below and when you open it scroll to the bottom and read the last paragraph and see who was a cofounder of the NRDC which is the NGO suing the NMFS.
As I said this is deep stuff and it hasn’t even gone before the South Atlantic Council YET but when it does and IF this starts to get traction then we the public at that point will need to speak up and NOT ramble rhetoric, but be in unison to reject any proposals of any additional MPA sites!
Capt. Mark You are right…Its time to organize and get everybody involved with facts. It is hard NOT to get discouraged as it seems we can never win.So how do we do it?? It is always about the money and always has been.
These elitist have got to go so what do we do??
For now stand by, but be prepared to speak at some point in the future. The next council meeting is March 4-8 in St. Simons, Ga. I am planning on attending and making comments to the council in regards to this topic.
Notice you can access the meeting on the web. I’ll probably try to get down there about mid-day Tuesday so I can sit in on the VMS presentation.
Take notice that this MPA issue will be discussed on Wednesday afternoon right before the Q&A session
One thing I did notice which is not unexpected is the public comment period where your statements go on public record is to be held Friday morning at 8:45AM.
This comment period time frame over the years has been shifted around!
lets do what lousiana is doing about the red snapper and ignore the feds. they can’t stop all of us. the money and personnel is not there to enforce these draconian measures. Ive been to a few of the meetings and it’s really frustrating that the public speaks out and it falls on deaf ears. they’re gonna do what they want anyway because they’re backed by these big money enviornmental groups. Joined Rfa,cca wrote our reps…what else can we do? It just sucks!
Snapper Grouper management discussions start tomorrow after lunch. 1:30 till 5:30 and continues all day Wednesday until the Q&A portion.
I’ll be there and try to give some updates on what’s transpiring.
Oh, and by the way a Minority Report in regards to the MPA draft being submitted to the council was filed late last night by myself and some other fishermen involved.
This MR will go on public record and voice deep concerns for the content and object to the MPA WG draft report and its submission to council as it was NOT properly vetted and does not include the positions or opinions of ALL that were involved.
Should make for some interesting discussions I would think!
