Ricky, how do you get those instagram photo FX?
Bonzo, this is how you make a 20lb snapper look like it’s 35lbs

Nice fish. We had the same misfortune yesterday. Landed 4 of them in the 22-24 inch range. Very sad to let such tasty critters back into the ocean. Caught plenty of their cousins though to fill our stomachs and freezers.

Stabbing fish in the face with sharp objects is something I’ve grown to love and enjoy…please don’t take that away from me.

A release device…
One of the things the SAFMC has taken an extremely long time “studying” so they can decide whether to require them for snapper/grouper fishing or not.
It automatically releases from the fish’s jaw once it hits a certain depth, at which point the fish should be re-pressurized, eliminating the need for punching a hole in it’s air bladder or worse in order for it to not float on the surface behind your boat when you toss it back. A weight it hooked to one end and a fish on the other. You retrieve the device once the fish has been released.

We have used one many times on those big snaps! Pretty cool invention, IMO.
You can adjust the depth at which it opens/releases.

, the standard Seaqualizer is around 50 bux and can be set to release at depths of 50, 100 or 150". There is one for deeper and shallower. They recommend getting the fish down to 1/3 to 1/2 the depth it was caught in.
I’m all for them.
23, sorry for getting o
