SC Gamecock, yes if it’s fished like a weedless spoon for bass we call it “slow rolling” it which is a very slow and steady cadence of retrieve through cover (grass in this case). Try to get it hung up (you won’t) and shake it a little when it’s hung then pop it loose, let it sit and see if something bites it. If not, keep winding it and imagine what a wounded baitfish would move like as that’s the forage you are imitating. It’ll travel in “spurts” due to its injuries and then have to rest. Predators are opportunistic feeders; they will eat the weak and injured first so make it look hurt.
In the case of these reds I’d think that dragging it in to their oncoming path would be the way to get bit with an erratic “pop” or “twitch” once you have it in their strike zone presuming you have “killed” it or are just letting it sit while the fish considers it.
