Properly fund, and equip DNR. Use unmarked boats, and vehicles. Put more green uniforms on the water. Don’t use the same patrol boat at the same landing every day. Get the word out, that you are being watched and could lose your boat, if you break the law.

Agree 100%.
But, we, as fishermen, need to police ourselves.
If, we see someone doing wrong, we need to say something. Either to them or the proper authorities.

Guys, I just don’t see any declines in my personal catch rate and many that I know that fish regular. Maybe we are looking at localized urban areas? If so then there is were the studying needs to be taken place. Is it a lack of Breeders, is it chemical pollution, is it over fishing in crowded areas, is it just plain boat traffic spooking them to new flats, Are the fish learning to avoid artificals after so much catch and release, ? I don’t know and neither does anyone here. It’s all speculation. Scientific study by DNR and Marine Biologists need to weigh in with fact not speculation.
I honestly think I could plan a trip most any day to get a legal limit of meat and be successful. I’d use mud minnows or live shrimp to ensure my success.
One last question, if I do target Reds I’ve gotten more underslot than over slot in the areas I frequent. You guys that target Breeders, have you noticed any decreases?
Fred67… my results fishing are the exact same. I don’t see any decrease, occasionally I can’t get out of the trout and some small reds are just killin it. I too use mud minnows and live shrimp, occasionally trout trix and Gullps on bucktales. Love my popn corx too.
Man it’s nasty out today… good day for switchin out tackle boxes.

Izzy, i’ve read the first article before and met Steve Arnott. He seems truly concerned for all our fish.
The second article kind of turns me off I don’t trust the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. They seem to only focus on over fishing. I’m not doubting that the Breeders get overfished, but I don’t think that is the only problem.
No problem Fred. I do agree there’s more to the equation.

I just checked the DNR website and unless I’m not seeing correctly bag limits and size limits are still the same for the 2017/2018 season.
Proposed changes,not law yet
