It’s windy as hell. I was hell bent on going to the Bahamas that time of year for 5 years in a row but I’m over it. From the end of February thru the mid to end of April… Wind makes it hard. Good luck. I now striper fish and turkey hunt. Go in January thru mid February if you get the itch.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I have already booked a place in Islamorada so will be there March 8 - 15. I wish I could fish another time of the year down there but that is my only option right now.
Based on the wind reports from everyone, I’ll probably tow down a 17 ft boat and stick with the inshore stuff. No point trying to haul down a bigger boat and be stuck inshore with high winds all week. We will most likely get a tarpon guide early on to learn the basics and try to do it ourselves the rest of the week.

If you just go to the bridge at holiday isle right in front of my boat (bad habit) in the channel, we dump all of our carcasses there and sharks/tarpon are usually always there! Feel free to stop by with any questions! We are usually around the dock all day if we aren’t fishing! Good luck hope you enjoy your stay! Also the patch reefs inshore from 15-30 ft the mutton sand mangroves are on that time of year if you want some meat to eat!
