I haven’t been offshore as often as many of you chaps, but I have learned that when the wind’s a-blowin’, I ain’t goin…in a 23ft anyway. Buoyweather early this morning had 2 @ 7, with winds 12 to 17. Against better judgement based on the wind forecast, and with a late start we went. Made it 18mi before my associate had enough of the beating, and I concurred. Max comfortable speed was 8kt. F that.
Some people just won’t listen. All they look at is swell height. They don’t realize a 2’ swell with a 3’ wind wave is now a very steep 5’ wave.

Or they don’t realize they can run in the ditch to a different spot in relative comfort. Seen plenty of folks beat themselves to death going where the red line takes them instead of altering course 20-40 degrees.
Beautiful day out in the ocean. Cleared the N Edisto at 7 am cruising 30 knots - never touched the throttles once - even crossing close to the bar. Fished the reefs…there were boats everywhere!!!
We left the house at 9:00am, in the creek by 9:30. Headed to the gardens at an easy speed of 26mph. Little over an hour ride out. Caugh some B-liners and BSB. Heat kicked our butts and we pulled lines at 2pm for a 25-30mph ride home.
12" B-liners got sent home…kept a few 13" and some over 13.5" BSB.
Got home and cleaned the fish and The Warden made fish cakes with an okra relish. Man!

We got a late start leaving west branch of the cooper this morning. Cruised 28knots our to the 380 and fished the weed line all day. Picked off 6 dolphin. All 20 pounders. Ran a comfortable 30knots back home.
Lots of boats out there today. Whoever was out there on that 24’ sportsman bay boat is brave
One of those days where west wind was nice on the ride out and east wind was nice on the way in. Nice weed lines as well. quote]Originally posted by BW2150
